Field Alteration of Boilers

Case History:
Locke Equipment's field crew increased the capacity of 3 industrial boilers at an East Cost military base by adding Steam and Water Drum length. After the drums were extended heat transfer surface was added in the amount of 22% of the original heat transfer surface.
Locke's responsibility included the following:
- Quality Control
- Weld Radiography
- Welder Qualification
- Stress Relief
- Field Machining
A crew supervised by Robert Dill, a Locke Superintendent, completed the work. Donald Pickett managed the project.
Locke's union crew utilizes permanent staff in combination with local skilled Boilermakers. Content
